I don’t know why the above quote just tripped my memory but Peonywarrior reminded me of the suspended account Alkiegourmand (well, the Warrior half was reminiscent, anyway). Not trying to beat a dead horse, this has just been bugging me for some time. I try not to dwell on tiresome internet trolls but I remembered this incredibly fatuous post from Alkiegourmand starting:

The three best cuisines are Japanese, French, and Italian. There is a big dropoff
after that. (Sorry, China.)

And there was the Peonywarrior post from a few months ago ranking cuisines that started the exact same way. Throw in a wine habit, annoying hard opinions, weird classist vibes, unhelpful pandemic thoughts, etc. and either this is the same person or a very similar seeming person. Not sure which option is preferable.

EDIT: Good lord, @hungryhungryhippos already called it two comments ago with a subtlety that whooshed past my head. As far as I know, other people noticed the similarities in the past as well. ANYWAY… I’ll try and leave it there so as not to feed the trolls further.

Warrior: I would say the best restaurants in the Arts District are Bavel, Brera, Factory Kitchen, Bestia, and Manuela.

I think Q is the superior restaurant. Our meal at Q was so refined, across the board, that I think that one Michelin star is not enough. Q may very well be the best sushi restaurant in LA.

Yes, I will. We all must decide on a reasonable balance between safety and enjoyment of life. My view is that people are overemphasizing the health concerns from coronavirus and understating the economic concerns (which indirectly impose health concerns).

Kinjiro in Little Tokyo is very underappreciated. I think it’s much better than Tsubaki, for example, and it has a much more diverse menu.

Warrior: For over ten years, I’ve been in the camp of people who believe that Jitlada is the best Thai restaurant in LA, and I continue to believe that. I also rank it higher than Lotus of Siam.

Jitlada. I’ve had so many mindblowingly intense and delicious dishes here that I’m willing to forgive all its faults. At its best, Jitlada offers the most exhilarating food in LA.
