A report from the Whole Foods in Union Square, Manhattan: There are signs that say “Amazon Whole Foods.” Peaches were $1.49/lb; this is cheap, but Whole Foods routinely runs sales on produce. Avocados were $1.49 each, down from $1.99, which is still 50% more expensive than the Trader Joe’s down the block or any random street vendor. The other products I looked at - yogurt, cheese, beer, canned tuna, fresh seafood, olives - were priced the same as they were two weeks ago. Color me unimpressed, at least so far.
