This is their current insta! They are super good about announcing it in the morning and they change them up! I love the Yakatoridon on Wednesdays.

I live for Tempura House specials. Waiting for the demi glacé sauce katsu to come back because I keep missing it!

I’ll have to try Dong Ting and Odd One Out soon. Thanks for the heads up.

Hiya… so sorry that their hours didn’t match yours. Glad you were able to turn that frown upside down…

Oh!!! I have gotten their Hamburg Demi Glacé. It was very ketchup forward but super good!

Tempura house isn’t cheap, but it’s well rounded meal with a decent portion. I am really starting to dislike going to places that skimp on their veggie offerings or don’t offer any sort of side.

Yes…. That Japanese Tartar with the hard boiled egg mixed in…

I don’t think I’ve ever seen boba in a drink that wasn’t rolled into balls. Now I really want to try Odd One Out.

went to Formosa Aroma yesterday - pretty good, they brew your tea choice fresh - lots of milk choices (I like a place that offers evaporated milk!) and their boba while a little smaller than normal, has a good chew to it. Would recommend. Probably vaults up to the top of my rankings for Alhambra/San Gabriel/Monterey park area.

Jin Tea and Cha Redefined still at the very top for SGV

Spot on about the jelly texture at Odd One Out, and I prefer it to traditional tapioca pearls. They were pretty busy on Friday night and they’re getting their decor/wall art in. The ABC Chai is a skip for me at $8. A regular jasmine tea with silk boba was an A+ for me.

Is the silk boba grass jelly?

Nope. Very close to aiyu jelly in taste and texture.

I didn’t go in (not a huge boba person), but there was a line at out the door late afternoon yesterday, too.

+1. Their silk boba is definitely the baby of grass jelly and boba. I quite liked the texture and chew, but I wouldn’t say I prefer it over regular boba. The tea and cream were excellent. Everything currently 20% off during soft open.

One of the nice things about being closer to the larger 99 Ranch markets is that I can indulge in my favorite tea, Visoy Chysanthemum Tea! Made by local a Tofu maker, they have the formula for this tea just right! Floral and sweet. Very refreshing and drinkable. I usually get small bottles at Bahn Mi Shops, but 99 Ranch sells the big size and as you can see here… they fill it to the tippy top!!!

The tea is sweet. It has that rich Chinese rock sugar taste and texture. So for my daily drink, I mix it half and half with some cold brew dragon well green tea. Now that we are getting into hopefully warmer weather, looking forward to enjoying this quite a bit… And I checked… this is also carried at the new 99 Ranch in Torrance…. Whew!!

Odd One Out now at 3rd Street Promenade.

Interesting place to open up at. Isn’t it pretty dead there these days? When I was a kid back in the 90’s that place was so busy on the weekends.

Wouldn’t Koreatown, Irvine, SGV, South Bay, Cerritos/Artesia be better locations?

Very odd. 3rd St Promenade is an incredibly unpleasant place to walk around.

Yeah except when I went in person last week, the queue was ten+ persons deep at OOO.

And there is visibly more private security foot patrols visible now on 3rd St Promenade…

Pretty much. I actually took a pic one night b/c one block on a Friday night was almost entirely empty.

A bit off topic, but Total Wine on Wilshire in Brentwood seems to have hired one, as well, and I have to say that it made my trip to Northern Cafe feel a bit more comfortable.
