Can anyone recommend a great restaurant or two in Charleston? I would like one to be expensive and fabulous. Thank you! Lizzy
I’ve been wanting to go to Husk and McCrady’s since Sean Brock was a guest chef in Oakland.
Husk is lovely, I’d certainly recommend it. R Kitchen is a lot of fun, and great value. Bertha’s is, to me, a “must”.
And, I had one of my loveliest meals of the year at Sorghum & Salt last year.
I found food in Charleston to be very good.
The Grocery was fantastic. Interesting dishes, excellent preparation.
The Ordinary was also very good. This is a sister restaurant of Fig (for which we couldn’t get reservations) that is focused on seafood.
We also tried Hominy Grill, a more downscale restaurant with a local feel. There is always a line. But I thought it was a waste of time. I grew up in the South. The food here tastes like basic, borderline indifferent Southern food.
The Gin Spot is a good place for cocktails.
