Cocktails - What Are You Drinking?

How did i miss this thread?!

I broke out the good…as in REALLY good…tequila tonight in advance of the inauguration tomorrow.

I didn’t think 9 am PST would be the best idea, or perhaps it is, this is, after all, tequila

What is everyone else drinking?

The Division Bell is nice on a warm evening:

3/4 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz Aperol
1/2 oz Maraschino (I prefer Maraska vs Luxardo)
1-1/2 oz Mezcal

Shake w/ ice, pour into chilled coupe, express a grapefruit twist into the drink & discard twist.

Tomorrow after I get worn out from margaritas I’m going to partake from those barrels on the back wall. First one, is the stuff marked 1776.

Long time chowhound, just joined FTC. Love this thread.

I call this cocktail The First Word. I would use Rittenhouse instead of the rye here for a bit more punch, if you like an alcohol-forward cocktail. The First Call rye used here is wholly unremarkable.

Ingredients:
2 oz rye
1 oz Brucato Chapparal Amaro (yes, made in the USA, and its excellent)
1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice
San Pellegrino to top off
Finish with orange bitters (I like Bitter Truth from Munich, Germany)

Method:
Add rye and amaro and orange juice to a shaker half way filled with fresh ice
Shake 21 times (don’t ask)
Strain into a whiskey tumbler with a large ice cube
Top off with sparkling water
Add three dashes of bitters
Top with sliced orange or blood orange

I have the Lo Fi Amaro on hand maybe I’ll try it with that! Sounds good

@aaqjr That’s an excellent California amaro too. Let us know how it turns out!
