Department of Unimaginative Hyperbole: from LA Weekly review of Casey Lane's Breva at the remodeled Hotel Figueroa

Does anyone else find this the most vapid review comment they have ever read, “As for the flatiron steak served with pea tendrils, green garlic and fries, I have never experienced such an unbelievably tender piece of meat”?

I wasn’t aware that it was so hard to find a tender, well-cooked steak.

Steuven is the most amateurish, incompetent restaurant critic I’ve seen with such a high-profile gig since Michael Bauer took over at the Chronicle circa 1994.

I’d say it’s not worth singling out any one sentence or phrase, except that calling a gin and tonic “a deal at $15,” well, who’s paying her, the paper or the hotel? There wasn’t some other place more worthy of a review?

try www.LATaco.com it’s not the same and it’s only online. But they seem to be paying a lot of the old LA Weekly writers to write for them
