Looking to host a dinner for some clients but anything worth a damn seems at least 30min from the JW. Anything closer? Also thought a private chef to cook in a rented space might be an idea, but where to find one of those?
I’m going to JW Marriot Palm Desert for a conference in a few weeks and have back to back dinners at Morton’s across the street. I don’t really think there are many options without driving. Is there a different JW Marriot in Palm Springs?

Oh, check out Kiki’s in La Quinta. I haven’t been but the chef cooked for Walter Manzke for a long time, including as CDC at Republique.

Went to Mr Lyons. Steakhouse a few blocks away from Ace Swim Club. Nice lively room and atmosphere for a Monday night. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share. The prime NY steak was fantastic. We ordered a dessert steak it was so good. Better than the rib eye. Burger was excellent. Pork chop was just ok didn’t love the sauce on top.
If you like desserts the carrot cake was the best of the bunch. They also have a speak easy next door. We didn’t go in but the drinks we ordered at the table were nicely made.

Looks cool, but a bit far from the JW to drag clients to. For now it’s Mastro’s but might give Kiki’s the nod
Check out Eddie V’s Prime Seafood if you prefer seafood. They also have steaks on the menu. I had apps and drinks here. We were possibly the only people in the restaurant under 70. A partner who lives in Palm Desert half the year said that Eddie Vs is much better than Maestros.
If you want to get crazy after dinner the locals place to go is The Nest. He said his mother found her 4th husband there. FOURTH.
