Hi all, I’m spending the weekend with my partner in SB over Labor Day and need a dinner for the drive home. Thinking of downtown Ventura, are there any casual restaurants worth stopping there? Or anywhere else in between. We probably won’t want fish as we’ll probably hit 2 places over the weekend. Nothing spicy for me, my palate can’t handle it.
Ten Tigers is a newish, stylish cocktail bar. Enjoyed a drink there, and the food looked decent tho we didn’t actually eat. We ate at Rumfish across the street, which is a pretty popular and very solid local institution. Maybe more seafood than you want but there’s other stuff too.
I liked Fluid State, a beer garden with good and interesting sourdough pizzas. And if you’re truly looking as casual as it gets, Las Delicias de Abuelita and the new outpost of Carnitas El Rey are solid+.
There’s stuff closer to SB in Carpenteria (Dang Burger) and such too but that maybe defeats the purpose of eating on the way.
Thanks for the rec. I couldn’t find a menu and the website only showed a pic w/the name of the restaurant, no info whatsoever. As I replied to the other poster, we both can’t drink alcohol…sigh.
Thanks also for suggesting Rumfish–I’d been there a few months ago with friends and didn’t remember the name til I looked at the menu. I don’t remember what I ate but liked it and the vibe. I’ll show this to my partner and see what he thinks.
