Dish of the Month (DoTM) -- AUGUST 2016 -- COLD (POSSIBLY FROZEN) NON-DESSERT DISHES

Sorry for the delay. Those of you who voted for the winner can thank @J_L for casting the vote that broke the tie… And those of you wanted frozen dessert (possibly dairy), like @Ns1, can send your hate message to, well, J_L, as well.

Late lunch at Tres Palmas…a repeat of the shrimp ceviche tostada. good stuff on a hot day - with lime, extra fresh! (and yes the photo is a repeat as my phone was mia).

Went this weekend and had the Campechana (shrimp, octopus, oyster & crab) at CONI’SEAFOOD. Their back patio might be my favorite place for lunch on a hot day. The Campechana was crisp and refreshing. They offered ketchup for it, and I declined before it even registered. Has anyone had ketchup with their ceviche? Is Campechana considered ceviche?

Ketchup with campechana is pretty traditional. Campechana is cocktail.

If you were to put ketchup on your ceviche tostada, it would be pretty weird.

The more you know!

Would it be a regular ketchup, a la Heinz, or is it typically a house made concoction?

Mariscos Jaliscos and La Cevicheria.

I like the Chapin more than the Blood Clams

Edit: I suck at embedding.

Of all the Mariscos trucks and stands I been, it’s just bottle ketchup.

Mariscos Los Lechugas (underrated mariscos truck), Campechana and Mix Tostada and Tuna Tostada…(the only truck serving Tuna not cheap white fish), only $2 or $3

Gotcha. Thank you.

Still new to the world of Mariscos, so appreciate the info. And your pictures look greatttt.

Waiting for the next wave - kokoda.

B/c it ruins the flavor or causes popping?

Ruins the flavor, better to eat them individually. A spoon of eggs than a little rice to chase the salt
