Dish of the Month (DoTM) – JUNE 2016 – VOTING

Well, after a titillating and vaguely pornographic voting period, the top 3 are…

  1. Cephalopods/octopus/tentacles
  2. Head
  3. Fruits
  4. Cured meats

For the purposes of breaking up a 4-way tie, I separated ice cream and frozen desserts (sorry… but feel free to nominate them in the future).

And, yes, I think that fruits (while very broad) is allowable. I mean, we had veggies as one DoTM…

Voting closes on 06/01 @ noon.

Didn’t even realize we finished closing the nominations. I wish we had “Charcuterie” instead of just “Cured Meats” (as Charcuterie gives us more interesting options in addition to the Cured Meat :). Next time.

I vote for:

OCTOPUS / SQUID / CALAMARI etc.

Wasn’t sure what you meant so i googled “head + food” and was aghast at what came up!

Yep… We’re gettin’ crazy over here. It’s all the kevin talk.

I think Charcuterie fits in cured meats. But after a month of Korean I’m changing my vote to the freshness of FRUITS.

I would like to see FRUITS as June Dish of the Month

FRUIT please!

I just want to see HEAD win.

Because for purely selfish reasons I just want to see how the select few among us give it.

'Tis the season.

FRUITS. Perfect DOTM as the stone fruits are looking beautiful in the Farmer’s Markets

FRUITS!

@ipsedixit sorry, that’s private :joy:

Ok, does tomato count as a fruit or is tomato a vegetable?

Lol… that’s funny. I asked that question during Vedg Month. It’s technically a fruit, but used as a vedg in the culinary sense. I think.

Did I answer the question during the vegetable month? It is indeed a fruit…

Cephalopods/octopus/tentacles!!

FRUIT is my vote.

Can’t it be both like the late Earl Warren?

Octopus can actually be better (more tender) when bought frozen - freeze-thaw cycles help tenderize the meat. One of the best ways to cook tender octopus is sous vide (everybody has slightly different times and temperatures but I would start at 180F for 6hours)
