You’re a crack-up.
I’ll be hungry.
That’s 3 hot dogs from Costco or a full 3/4 pound of kosher meat by-product goodness.
Only if I get to bring ketchup.
But even 800 Deg PoTD and my beloved Gelson’s half sandwich + 2 sides are both $6.99 each! I vote for $7 baseline cap + a nuanced and highly academical statistical formula to adjust for cost of living (because who cares about COMMERCIAL rent) based on this crazy-a$$ map from Curbed LA:
Not difficult at all. Make it so, I say.
$5 is a nibble these days (like 3 tacos) I think we would need to bump it up to at least $10-$20 to get some diversity in a cheap eats category
And didn’t we actually have a whole thread on cheap eats? Was it under $10 or something? Or was that on our old board?
may have been……I would be fine w/ $10 and under (although that usually includes food only and it’s always better to have a beer or something……)
I think he (she?) was kidding.
NS1? unlikely. lol. more of a challenge. it’s certainly doable, but limited for the most part to a single item/dish.
Okay great. That covers lunchtime. But what about my cocktail? I’m going to need a margarita on Taco Tuesday.
Okay, I think this may make everyone happy: PASTA FROM NORTHERN ITALY FOR $5-$10, KETCHUP FRIENDLY
the only things that are ketchup friendly: french fries & tater tots (in the face of you hot dog deviants )
Have a margarita somewhere during happy hour and stiff the bartender - $6
Go to tacos Leo afterwards and have 6 glorious al pastor tacos - $6
Finish the night off with a single scoop of ice cream from salt $ straw - $6
Bang^3
Awesome. This is really inspiring you.
I’m poor, this is life.
Rich, poor, faking it… this could be a good exercise for all. The best part of living in L.A. is the cheap thrills. But there’s all this expensive stuff to distract us.
Oh, that sounds familiar! I don’t think @jesstifer posts much/at all anymore, but I could’ve sworn that he was one who originated such a thread. Can’t recall whether it was here or on CH (and I ain’t gonna try to do a search on the old board… ).
Truth be told, a running thread on cheap eats isn’t a bad idea at all… But maybe it being DoTM will kickstart things.
These got a lot of traffic… and some collisions .
Thanks @TheCookie. Those were it.
They already got over 200 replies. I think maybe we should do a different DOTM.
