Happy Lunar New Year 4720, everyone!

Eating round-shaped foods is most auspicious this time of year - Even better if there is a golden hue to it, symbolizing prosperity. Egg tarts from Paderia Bakehouse fit the bill…

Damn, I’ve been sending out messages that it is 4720…

I need to go back to Ellie’s. Parking can be tight in that neighborhood.

How was Honeybird’s chicken? Our pre-pandemic experiences were, generally, kind of meh (chicken was kind of under seasoned and breading was tepid), so we hadn’t been back. Unfortunate since it is pretty local to us. Is it worth giving it another try?

Unofficial Girl Scout cookie rankings.

  1. Somoas (sorry I cannot call them anything else)
  2. Tagalongs
  3. Adventurefuls did nothing for me.

It took us like half an hour to find parking. And it’s even more annoying because all those streets are one way. Worth it for the food though!

Interesting, because it was the complete opposite for me! I’ve always liked their chicken, but this was the first time I’ve been since the pandemic started and I thought it was under seasoned and the breading wasn’t the same. Also I don’t remember the sides being vegan?

Barans 2231 I guess they won a bib gourmand from Michelin this year?

But anywho my friends rave about their breakfast burritos. It was definitely delish crispy hash brown with cheese melted in a la a cheeseburger, fluffy eggs and bacon. Salsas were straight fire both red and green. Has replaced Phannys as my local go to. Only available on saturdays and sundays tho.

The food at Young Dong Soontofu is good as ever. Have to eat that hot spicy stew on the hottest day of the year. They are back to using metal spoons but still no scorched rice hot stone pot so no neurrungji. The only downside.

Next door at Tasty Box every single table outside was taken and a pretty long queue for take out. We enjoyed Tasty Box the one time we did take out but need to go back.
