looking to R&D on some octopus and cuttlefish dishes — never used them before. does anyone know good fish markets (or vendors) for either? thanks.
Most of the Asian markets will carry both. H-Mart offers cleaning and cutting services for free.

If you can purchase enough and are a chef, they’ve been known to be more flexible.
How much are you looking to purchase any given time and where are you in LA? Depending on what you’re trying to do there are wholesale and retail options
i’m around the Downtown area. i’m just looking for vendors with differently sourced (Spanish, Japanese) octopus at the moment. wholesale is out of the picture unfortunately b/c i only want a couple at a time. (it’s a personal R&D venture, not business)
I’m not sure about differently sourced but for proximity I would suggest Little Tokyo Marketplace off Alameda - that’s the last place I bought any cephalopods and they validate parking.
Other than that, this thread is pretty useful for sourcing seafood.
Finally, this is out of your way but I also like this wholesaler for pricing, information about sourcing (when you call in your order, not on the site) and low minimums (two pounds of product):

Before Covid - LA Fish Co downtown was open to the public even though it is a wholesaler.
They would have what you are looking for.
I think they still are open to the public not just wholesale.
