I got that leak detector. No gas leaking when the stove is off. Nothing from the water heater, either.
in California the reliability of electricity is a concern. Weather, line viability etc. We have a foothill property that relies on propane. Neighbors who were sold on all-electric kitchens bring their mugs to our house for coffee when power is out.
Oh yeah. We had a rental house at Sea Ranch one winter. Bad storm knocked out the power. Couldn’t use the gas stove because it had some kind of leak-preventing igniters that required electricity.
We were at Tahoe for about ten years and had one power failure that last about 24 hours. Our grille ran off natural gas so that was fine for that short a period.
