Houston - Memorial City Neighborhood

I’ve never been to Houston, is there anything that I absolutely should not miss out on eating in the greater metropolitan area, or do you have any favorite recommendations?

Secondly we’ll be staying the Memorial City neighborhood to attend Worldfest Houston Film Festival. I’m looking for a venue around there to accommodate roughly 40 people for an after-screening event of light drinks & food. Wondering if you all have any good recommendations?

So far we’ve reached out to the following with inquiries:

The Tasting Room
State Fare
Next Door Lounge
General Public
Escalante’s
Pappasito’s
Lupe Tortilla
Churrascos
Yard House

Thanks!!

Might want to cross post to Hungry Onion’s Texas board, too, to broaden responses and ideas:

@micheldelving How did your experience exploring in the area go?

Looking for recs for about 24 hours, while we are in town.

From what I remember Memorial City area was a bit of a drive from anything interesting.

Truth BBQ was a standout.

Would recommend the Houston Museum of Natural Science for an incredible not to be missed butterfly exhibit, cool dinosaur bones, and a wild third floor of straight fracking propaganda.

There is a bit of a Viet-Cajun culture and many restaurants that serve this fusion style but unfortunately I wasn’t able to squeeze that in and I do truly regret not being able to experience that.
