The median sale price in Seattle proper is getting close to $1M. Our old SF house would go for over $2M now 
$1 million might still get you a 900 sf fixer-upper in a less desirable part of Berkeley.
I wish I’d followed my impulse and bought a DTLA studio for well under $100K when I visited LA in 2014.
