I'm looking for a tremendous knock your socks off cocktail

I think what you’re really asking: does it makes you horny?

Yes it does. See you there tomorrow.

Ever been to Spago? Same atmosphere but quieter. Music is so quiet I don’t even remember hearing music there. Plenty of light for the most part but not bright.

Completely agree with Aesthete on this. Don’t remember the music and just enough light. But I probably need to refresh my memory to confirm. Looks like it’s time to do some…ahem…research.

Can anyone comment on Bar Vs. Lounge at Walker Inn?
It is considerably more difficult to make Bar reservations.

And is it a true “sister” to Death & Co. in NYC or a sister by association rather than birth?

I thought it was more of a sister by association, but I could be wrong. I personally like Walker more than Death & Co. shrugs

The Lounge is almost preferable. Bar is harder to reserve because there are not many bar seats compared to lounge seats, and the bar experience is the omakase that most people are particularly thrilled by, whereas the Lounge is self-directed ordering.

they’re connected? If you have a group > 2, it makes a whole lot more sense to sit in the “lounge”, which is like… 10 feet away from the bar.

Thanks @TonyC and @Aesthete
Looks great.

This is why I thought they were sibs.

Since I’m the one who wrote the quote…

I don’t quite know how to answer your question. All of this is according to my understanding, but…Walker Inn is a part of Proprieters LLC, which is the larger parent company that grew out of Death and Co. Their first project in LA was Honeycut, but that was a partnership with 213 (who runs Seven Grand, Cana Rum Bar, Cole’s, etc). Walker Inn is, to my knowledge actually their bar, not a partnership with 213. However, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, Katie, the main bartender is from The Hawthorne in Boston (and maybe was at Drink before, can’t quite remember). The other bartenders I’ve spoken with have had other jobs around LA.

In sum, I don’t know if this makes them siblings or cousins-twice-removed. I just know that the drinks are excellent and that you should definitely sit at the bar.

By the by, I know this thread is all about Walker Inn currently… but Hatchet Hall has tremendous fucking cocktails.

took the ride last nite - was great.
As was the Squid, Pork Belly “Graton” (Chicharon/Cracklin’) with Spicy Vinegar and chicken leg

I gotta go back and get the Graton! I also want to try the shortrib with sorghum!

Osso is making pretty tasty $12 cocktails still these days in DTLA.

Also, jazz nights on Thursday are a great way to spend the evening.

Bumping a very old thread as I was searching for cocktail related threads.

@CiaoBob: One advantage of not sitting at the bar at Walker Inn is that you do not have to do the omakase menu. Last time we went, the theme was “School Science Project” or something like that. They asked us to play 3 consecutive game of memory with headphones on to see if the cocktail improved or worsened our memory. I also thought the first 3 cocktails were nothing special, but 4th was amazing. So overall, that particular omakase night was a miss for me personally, but I want to try them again. Sitting in the lounge area instead is not as interesting, but if you are risk averse, at least you can order on your own.

Don’t know how I missed this thread a year ago, but I love it!

I am a HUGE fan of Ingo’s Happy Hour (Santa Monica, Wilshire at 12th) where their Bobby Love is $6 (St. George green chile vodka, green juice, lime, served up). They also have a tremendous Bloody Mary

I also have to say I don’t know how I missed this thread, either, but I’m a huge fan of Mrs. Fish in DTLA, across from Pershing Square and below Perch. Their Cucumber Collins is incredible, and I also like the Crimson Clover.

As a plus, they have great Happy Hour prices and pretty good food, too!

the Barnish ?

I am a sucker for White Russians with Kettle one . Or a Caucasian as the dude would say .
