I’ve been eating out a lot up here in NorCal. June highlights:

Hamburger Sandwich from Dad’s Luncheonette in Half Moon Bay (helmed by former chef de cuisine of Saison, Scott Clark)

a delicious Riesling 2007 from Boulevard, old school fine dining American in SF

a tasting of Oakland’s Den Sake Brewery, Den Batches #2 - 6 at a local izakaya

Cha Gio and Banh Cuon from Gao Vietnamese in San Mateo

In & Out Double Cheeeeeeeese and Fries Well Done

Razor clams, clams steamed in sake at Kemuri Baru (Redwood City)

Kurobuta prime rib pork chops (Boulevard, perfect pairing with Riesling)

Beef tendon “lo mein” Vietnamese Chinese - Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia

Den Batch #6 x hand made soba at Soba Ichi (Oakland)

BYO sake x aged grilled unagi

Tori Paitan Ramen x Dr Loosen Riesling at Ramen Sayro Hachi (Burlingame)

“Wheel Cake” Taiwanese style imagawayaki (Cafe Half Bistro)

BYO sake x doteyaki/Osaka style beef sinews stew

Ming Kee Roast Duck thigh x cha siu rice plate

and finally Hokkaido scallop nigiri with shaved freeze dried uni on top at Kinjo

Ugh! Can’t take the dish seriously when there’s no “9 yellow”!

I guess that’s why the plate was $12 to $13 instead of $16 to $19…
