Eater did a really detailed article about it a few years ago. Super local spot that sells out before 11am. Very interesting choice cause it doesn’t seem like it was ever on the La times radar. I had it brought to me once and it was really good. Just never wanted to wake up early enough to go

Interesting list. I like seeing baroo and holbox
up there! I haven’t been to kato in so long, guess I need to run it back.

If your restaurant name ends in the letter “o”, it is likely to make the top 10.

Been saying this for the past year they are easily one of the top tacos in LA. I highly recommend it

I like to see that the list is continuing to poke its tendrils down south. Hope next year they can head to the ESGV and IE

Psyched for my birthday din at Kato on saturday. Bet they’ll be in a very good mood

I can’t disagree too vehemently with this list. My biggest complaint would be: I consider Vespertine #1. Jonathan Gold had it right back in the day, and Vespertine is better than then.

Republique is way too high. It’s a fantastic spot to take out of towners, but the food is nowhere near as good as what you can get at places listed below it.

Was Harold & Belle’s ever on the 101 list? I don’t remember that.

I want to give Republique some credit for something underappreciated: They change their menu frequently. That should count for something in some ranking. I’m not sure Michelin takes it into account (I doubt it).

Party was pretty fun fwiw. There were elaborate fancy dishes all over, but I was happiest with an asada taco and an Estrella Jalisco.

Wasn’t Mori-san making sushi also?
