An under appreciated dish. Love it at Sham Shari on Westwood. Where is the best?
Not a restaurant, but it’s one of my favorites to braise at home.

This would make a great FOTM. What are the best lamb shanks or anything but lamb rack dishes in LA?
Bestia’s slow roasted lamb neck is fabulous.
However if you ever find yourself in Winnemucca, NV I highly recommend the lamb shank at the Martin Hotel.

We had an AMAZING lamb shank at Broken Spanish last weekend. A huge portion! It’s listed as “Borrego” on the menu and it is braised served with onion marmalade, chili negro, and pomegranate. We could eat only half of it and had the wonderful leftovers for dinner the next night.

I love lamb but don’t really eat it anymore. What is “lamb rack dishes” and why “anything but”?
Because rack of lamb (Leg of lamb as well) is by far the most common and easiest way to put lamb on a menu especially in fine dining. Serve it med med rare and Its good but it’s nice to highlight places that take the extra effort to cook and try to sell off cuts like lamb shoulder or neck or belly ect

2 of my favorites for Lamb Shank would be:
- Olive Tree - Posted about it in this FTC thread.
- Shamshiri Grill - We’ve tried many of the neighboring restaurants for their Bagali Polo w/ Lamb Shank and Shamshiri is still our fav in the area.
