Little Tokyo izakayas

This is all I got from my buddy, it’s chicken

That’s from this, from I guess the sake supplier for Tori Shin in NYC:

No more info there. 弁慶 doesn’t appear on Tori Shin’s menu, either:

Seems like it would be mostly cartilage, tendon, and skin.

I stopped into Izakaya Gazen last night for a reunion get together with a friend and former colleague. We were sat right away and camped at our fourtop.

We ordered
tofu sampler [black sesame; original; milky]
Karaage
Cabbage salad
Dashimi tamago [omelette]
Udon
One soda, one water
$60 before tip which impressed me greatly

I’d go back again, and reorder the karaage, the cabbage salad [large serving!!]; and the dashimi tamago. I think my dining companion enjoyed the udon however I didn’t sample.

We were sat immediately at 6:30 although the host asked if we had a reservation. As we left two hours later most of the tables were filled. The service was nice and food came out quickly. However I think they were thin staffed as we were really left alone for a long time. Good for us as we had a lot of food and catching up.

I have never had a bad experience, sushi is good and I’m happy it survived this long.
Patio is also a nice option.
