Saw this post from PorkyBelly (who has been tagging me in threads to make my first post) so I finally took the opportunity to do so!
I went to Mala Class and the food was phenomenal.
Kevin (the front-house partner) explained each dish and how they came up with the recipe. Chef Michael even came out to say hello. My favorite dish is Mike’s spicy beef noodle soup. Definitely getting a whole bowl for myself next time.
Dry peppered fried tofu
Mushroom fries
Dumplings & chili oil
Cukes & bean curds
sze - salad
Fried chicken wings
Sesame noodles (Kevin was mixing it table-side for us)
Dan dan noodles (Kevin was mixing it table-side for us)
Mike’s spicy beef noodle soup
Garlic sauce shrimp
Mapo tofu
Nice first post @SithLord!
Welcome and great first post. I’ll probably be making a visit here pretty soon.
Welcome to FTC!!!
I went last week! It was good - not great. The beef noodle soup and the wings were by far the best things on the abbreviated menu. The mapo tofu was very soupy. I’m excited to see how they are going to improve.
welcome

Welcome to FTC @T_C.
I’ve been lurking here for a minute! No one I trust more than the members on this board for the best assessments of where to eat.
Dan Dan Noodles. The sauce is really good. For this visit my noodles were overcooked. Besides that mishap which might just be a one off I think this is a very good bowl of dan dan noodles.
Mapo Tofu. This is something that needs to grow on me tbh I think growing up Taiwanese-American I am used to flavors that balance savory and sweet together. There is alot of complexity going on with the peppers, chile, salt, etc here. Not watery for me. Plenty of extra sauce to add to the rice.
Not expecting this type of mapo either (but I don’t seek out/crave/yearn/whatever Sichuan regularly), but among the other items we ordered – dan dan, cukes, mushroom fries – this one hit for me. The most layered, most interestingly flavored dish. I could take or leave the dan dan; I should have stuck to my gut and ordered the cold sesame noodles to cut through the heat and spice.
You’re too kind.
