Mexico City 2024 Recs?

We are taking a last minute trip to Mexico City for one week. I’ve checked the 2022 Mexico City Trip Report, beautifully written and so well organized by @set0312
I’d also like to add good cafe’s/coffee shops, if anyone has any “must try” recs. Thanks in advance!

I was there over Thanksgiving. Have a half written draft on the 2022 thread, but some highlights were Comal Oculto, Carnitas Parque Luna, Siembra, and Maximo (somewhat surprisingly).

Would have loved to try Maizajo (taco not restaurant) but they were closed during the trip. Used to love the tacos de guisado from Hola El Guero but thought it had fallen off this trip.

I’m totally on an island but dislike Expendio de Maiz. Strongly. Little differentiation in flavor from course to course and you have no control what you get. If you can get into Esquina Comun I’d suggest that. OG chef from Expendio decamped to open that apparently.

Wow, I haven’t heard a bad thing about Expendio de Maiz, but noted. Thanks for the recs! I will report back on whatever I can try!

Yeah, I’m definitely outside the mainstream on Expendio. It’s not like you’ll have a horrible meal there, but it didn’t do anything for me. Lack of choice prob bothers me more than most, and unless you can down like 5-6 courses, you’re at the mercy of when they seat you and what 3-4 courses you get.
