As we speak, there is a Shake Shack being built on the Arroyo Parkway. Not sure how this plays against Lucky Boy.

Howlin Ray’s Pasadena is going to be in the little strip mall that Chaaste Family Market is in. I have mixed feelings about this b/c yes, it’s closer to my neighborhood, but that parking lot is already a disaster when I go pickup lunch at Chaaste.

A friend got some from the Pasadena location already…it’s happening. But with this order to go thing it seems to have made it easier for pple like me that don’t want to wait in line.

Parking there will definitely be a disaster. We used to have to go the the orthodontist there once a month for my daughter’s braces adjustments.

according to eater, tacos 1986 is moving into old town on union before the end of the year. personally i’d be more excited if it weren’t in old town. i can still remember when that stretch of colorado was all boarded up except the porno book store.

They said on Instagram that’s just a ghost kitchen for postmates. The sit down will be still be in arroyo

Anyone been to the newish El Matador on Washington near Allen?

a lot of places opening up on that stretch of arroyo parkway.

not yet but as afar as i can tell, they did little to no redecorating other than the change of sign. maybe the same folks but no longer mijares?

My understanding is Mijares sold that location.

you’re right; they did - i stopped by, noticed the liquor license application. and their menu is different from the mijare’s menu.

the new menu includes more seafood choices as well as a chicken mole.

Teddy’s Tacos at 1655 E Colorado Blvd, across from PCC - I can’t recall the different restaurants in that space, but for a pizza place some years ago (and the Maseratis often parked in front, though the cars might have been associated with a more recent restaurant).

Same block, a few storefronts down (at the corner of
Colorado and Bonnie), I think I saw signage for “Bun Bun Bao”. (Last restaurant in that space was, maybe, AU79 Tea Express?)

What are the best restaurants doing patio outdoor seating in Pasadena right now? For a birthday

perhaps they’ll hire asians to eat there to give them legitimacy?

Not at all familiar w/ this place. Is it known for being bad-tasting?

i don’t expect QPR to be high. the bahn mi che cali nearby is managing to survive selling mediocre banh mi at $5 a pop.

I don’t think they have any existing stores.

correct; incorporated about a year ago, owner benny j wong aka zhuokang huang, who also runs tasty factory corp. incorporated march 2013, which apparently mass produces asian food products. i imagine they’ll be the source/supplier for bun bun bao.

the internet is a dangerous thing.

lincoln in altadena is being replaced by a branch of homestate, probably best known for their breakfast tacos. the plan is to open this spring, starting with takeout/delivery only.
