Hit up Sushi Tama for lunch yesterday. After a recent disappointing visit to Nozomi in Torrance, I was hoping for the best but fearing the worst. They have a list of specials and I got the 10 piece nigiri + tuna handroll which at $45 felt super reasonable these days. Added a piece of botan ebi and anago.
Unfortunately no pictures but everything was beautifully plated and the nigiri was well formed with nice, generous but not oversized cuts of fish. Mostly standards with ebi, kinmedai, tuna, chu-toro, mackeral, etc. The rice was excellent - lightly vinegared, slightly warm and densely packed, but not overly so. I’m not a crazy sushi snob but by the same token am generally not a fan of neighborhood joints. This place was excellent - felt like a very reasonable QPR.
