Winery find in Paso Robles!

We spent 3 days in the Paso area and one winery in particular was a standout among several good ones. Union Sacré (in Tin City) was recommended by someone on a wine board I frequent. Outstanding tastes of dry riesling, pinot gris, pinot noir, and cabernet (well, it IS Paso) made for a great experience. The winemaker is French and the theme is Alsace, so this isn’t typical Paso. We visited 6 wineries and I’d rate this the best, mostly because the wines were not what I’ve come to expect from the region.

On the food side…… a nice dinner at Black Cat Bistro Too (sister to a Cambria location) was enjoyed by all. A casual dinner at Paddy McGregor’s Irish Pub was also darned good. Late night at The Pour House featured a band with an insanely good lead guitarist. Never got their name but thoroughly enjoyed them, especially a great cover of Lynrd Skynrd’s Free Bird.

You had me at Alsatian but they lost me at 16 months in 100% new oak and 13.5% alcohol. Damn, I could go for some Alsatian PN.
