'21 Mosel and Alsace

Recently had a 21 'Zind Humbrecht pinot blanc that was something of a revelation and then I read this Asimov the other day. Picked up a couple kabinetts from K&L straight away. I’ll probably take down the '21 ZH gewurtztraminer this weekend. If it’s anything like the pinot blanc it will disappear quickly.

According to the article '21 was the first vintage in a long time to have a ‘pre-climate change’ profile. A wet spring and lots of mildew issues with reduced yields.

The pinot blanc was very lively and meant that the usual proscription “drink or hold” represented a difficult choice.

Anyone else try any gems from this vintage?

What did you pick up? I read that same article and was really intrigued.

2021 Max Ferd. Richter Veldenzer Elisenberger Riesling Kabinett Mosel
2021 Kruger-Rumpf Estate Riesling Trocken (dry) Nahe
2021 Donnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett Nahe
and another ZH pinot blanc

As a trocken the Kruger-Rumpf didn’t exactly fit the profile but was a bargain. Some of the nicer Donnhoff’s look like good buys.

Makes me wonder too how the wines from Northern France fared

Like where?

I was specifically thinking of Jura and Alsace
