Have you had the Sweet Rose version? Some find it too vegetal, but I think it’s amazing. I cannot recall the size of the chocolate, but it might be flakey? I’m pretty sure they’re not chips (but def don’t quote me).
The Sweet Rose version is excellent. I picked up the mint chip from Antico yesterday (about 5 minutes after the email announcement went out…). It is good, as is pretty much all of Antico’s ice cream, but Sweet Rose has the edge when it comes to mint chip.
Don’t quote me on it but i recall being told once that SRC melts chocolate into a pan very thin them hardens up by chilling then breaks it up into the ice cream. heard they tried to change it up once too make it easier but had to change it back due to customers feedback. That and the Chocolate are the best of the everyday lineup imo
Tried going Sunday and they just sold out of it
I picked up the honeycomb & banana cream pie. I’m not a huge fan of banana in general,
but they knocked it out of the park with this one! so addicting.
I love their honeycomb as well, but it tastes more like dulce de leche to me. If you’ve ever had the honeycomb ice cream at rustic canyon, now that’s insanely delicious. I would buy it in gallons if I could.
After a couple days silence, I bit the bullet and picked up a pint (along with the vanilla hazelnut crunch since the one thing I don’t love about the vanilla pistachio crunch is the pistachio). I was worried the “pie” part of the apple pie would be the same cookie/biscuit base as the one that’s recycled for any of the other flavors with shortcake, cookie, etc. No worry necessary as the pie was indeed pie crust. The first few bites were fine with the oats being a bit too tough for my liking, but the second and third sessions of the ice cream have proved to be much tastier and quite literally like eating apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream- only it’s the other way around. I’m generally not a fan of fruit forward flavors for my ice cream as I prefer that for sorbet, so this was a welcomed new flavor with the apple being just one component.
Their honeycomb is one of their flavors that’s just 100x better when dining- no contest.
They literally used apple pie to make the apple pie ice cream. They had leftover apple crostatas from their weekend steak dinner package. They found another use for it.
