Trout with kabocha, cavolo nero, and pomegranates from one of Lucques’ Sunday Suppers has been the benchmark dish of the year so far. The trout was oh so buttery and flaky, and the skin was perfectly crisp. The earthiness of the cavolo nero, sweetness of the cabocha, and the tartness of the pomegranate made for one harmonious dish. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos because Lucques is too infernally dark at dinnertime.

can i get that at the little tokyo location?

I was wondering the same thing. I saw the same dish on the menu at TOT, but I don’t know if the quality is the same.

Terrible photo but this is squid stuffed with uni risotto from Mori. It tasted good.

Interesting. I have never had risotto from Mori before.

Is it really risotto or the perfect sushi rice mixed with uni?

It was referred to as risotto but I believe, like you said, that it was just repurposed sushi rice prepared like risotto.

Unfortunately not. It’s only in the South Bay Location and the El Segundo location, although the South Bay is the specialist of it. There are several variation in the South Bay one as well, including one with cheese. It’s not bad, but it’s really guilding the lily. The winner is the plain.
