I’ve been a pretty serious student of la cocina Mexicana for a very long time. I’ve got all of her books, and read them as if they were a novel. I’ve cooked from most of her cookbooks and have rarely had a dish fail. I’ve taken classes with her in the U.S. and at her home in Zitacuaro. She is both terrifying and endearing and no doubt a force of nature. She is irrasible and in person seems immortal. It is reassuring to know her legacy will be preserved.
