Awesome. This is really inspiring you.

I’m poor, this is life.

Rich, poor, faking it… this could be a good exercise for all. The best part of living in L.A. is the cheap thrills. But there’s all this expensive stuff to distract us.

Oh, that sounds familiar! I don’t think @jesstifer posts much/at all anymore, but I could’ve sworn that he was one who originated such a thread. Can’t recall whether it was here or on CH (and I ain’t gonna try to do a search on the old board… ).

Truth be told, a running thread on cheap eats isn’t a bad idea at all… But maybe it being DoTM will kickstart things.

These got a lot of traffic… and some collisions :relaxed:.

Thanks @TheCookie. Those were it.

They already got over 200 replies. I think maybe we should do a different DOTM.

Aw shucks. Maybe you’re right. It could be fun though… more pictures than those other threads.

Yes. There was a $5 and under (and I think a $10 and under) discussion on that other website. Perhaps a re-boot is warranted here.

Yes to CHEAP EATS or TACOS or EGGS!

CHEAP EATS – defined as $8 or under for main dish at breakfast or lunch, $12 for the meal all in; $10 main item at dinner, $15 for the meal per person at dinner.

NORTHERN ITALIAN as a region.

PASTA.

(too early and hot for soups/stews for me)

Thanks for your service, pgl! If you have an end-of-month period when you are traveling or have obligations, let me know and I’ll sub back in temporarily.

I don’t know if this would fit into the spirit of DOTM or if it would be too confusing, so feel free to dismiss, but I nominate…

NEW
All dishes must be new to you (the poster), whether it be the first time ever having that dish/cuisine or the first time at a particular restaurant/truck.

I also second FISH and CURRY

I love the idea of NEW!

I like soup/curries/stews as well, but this heat wave has really been brutal. :confounded: In this heat, I don’t feel like any of those items, but I hear it’s supposed to cool down soon.

New is really interesting. But it might not make for a very organized DOTM Thread (not as nicely categorized if visitors or ourselves wanted to go back and reference a thread on, say, “Pasta” or “Hamburgers” etc.). But it’s a neat idea.

I’ll vote for PASTA or REGIONAL.

Very interesting and high-concept.

@nosh: most gracious of you to offer! And I’ll definitely take you up on it if/when it occurs.

[/quote]NEW! Oh I wish you had posted or I had seen this sooner…

@TheCookie - I know! Alas, inspiration struck too late. Another month, perhaps.

@Chowseeker1999 - All fair points!

I like NEW too!

How do you withdraw a post?
