Former host at Republique: threat or menace?

Not like there was just a 1.5 year seismic event in world history that shut down any chance of dealing with legitimate hospitality in any capacity. Who could imagine?

Not sorry! :hugs:

heā€™s not back with the team for the Front of the House. I thought this post was kind of weird cause he hasnā€™t been there since they reopened - now I finally realized this complaint was from over 1.5 years ago but being made now.

I do think their host stand has a very aloof presence - but the check in process is a bit haphazard with the way their entrance is set up. When the hosts were stationed outside when they only did dining outside, they seemed way warmer and talkative.

If I have to praise a front of the house - MajorDomoā€™s check in people are so unbelievably cheerful everytime Iā€™ve gone.

I didnā€™t want to open the can of worms any wider, but my personal Republique shopper aka hubs has reported aloofness from the bakery & takeout staff. And pre-ordering is sometimes a fruitless exercise as they sellout anyway with little apology.

Warrior: Weā€™ve had better experiences with check-in at Majordomo too. Never once waited past our reservation time. Itā€™s a better physical layout too.

Maybe they know people will come regardless and donā€™t care.

Thatā€™s fucked up. Do they refund you or encourage you to select other pastry to fill out your order?

A fantastic decision made by Republique! Bravo and screw him!

When I went, it was at the start of service and there was probably a small line of maybe 6-8 people. Absolutely no excuses to be so obnoxious.

Not surprised.

Iā€™ve been to many high end LA restaurants and this is the only one with this poor service.

They may be too busy to notice because biz is so great and complaints havenā€™t reached fever pitch. But Iā€™m sure itā€™s turned more than a few off.

This. We found out at pickup. They were slightly apologetic and said they made too little of whatever it was and sold-out early, but I was free to check the case for something else. :smirk: If itā€™d been something very specific or for a special occasion it would have soured me up on them for sure.

This was in July btw. We stopped going in the pre-vaxx days because the line looked a little too spreader-ish.

Hahaā€¦ I havenā€™t experienced anything as egregious but I might possibly have a higher egregious threshold. Once past the momentary chaos and snootiness of FOH the dinner and service is superb. I still :hearts: Republique.

ā€œOmg!! How dare you report on an incident from July when it is now October!! How irresponsible to mention a service issue from so long ago.ā€ :stuck_out_tongue:

Some of us club veteranos donā€™t give a poopabout the door manā€™s diva mode. Many of us have been dragged out of the line and told to go back to the village and have thick skin. Iā€™m not above throwing a bitch fit at him myself though. Some mfā€™ers havenā€™t been smacked in decades and need a reality check. Iā€™m famous in my house, biiiitch

glad heā€™s gone. planning a return trip

Tall curly hair host, wow was he terrible. I noticed they also tend to try and sit Asians at the communal table. Perhaps it happened only during my visits but I noticed a trend. Must be tiring changing peoples tables all the time. Maybe that is why he is the opposite of affable? Just my theory.
