LA restaurants open for seated dining

I really don’t know what to say here Robert. Other than we’ll move the wagons forward . Rather than sit here and die in this snowstorm.

Wolfgang Pack at Hotel Bel Air did the trick for us last night. Service was excellent, they were all wearing masks and gloves, and only used outdoor tables that were far more than 6 feet apart. On a Monday night there were quite a few diners actually. Food was competent and expensive as expected. Wolfgang was sitting at the table next to us having a non-alcoholic drink with his business partner. There was complementary welcome Aperol spritz for everyone. Since by now I am well used to masks on everyone’s face, it felt nearly normal.

Unfortunately nobody (or at least many people) will care about numbers anymore for reopening. Gouverneur will be very reluctant to close up/slow down again until there is a very significant increase in hospitalization and deaths. It is mot unlikely that we will see >1 million death until this pandemic will be over in the US alone (but many would gave been avoidable)

re-opening announcements are coming in fast and furious!

anyword on Somni?

Highly doubtful Somni will open in the near future; they would only be able to seat maybe 6 people max and they would be losing money each service.

Although maybe Jose Andres cares about the vision and its continuation more so than profits…

Remember what Chef Andres said a month or so ago? That healthcare providers eat for free at his places the rest of the year? #apromiseisapromise #CiaoBob&Iwillunwittinglydevourthemintochapter11

If you have dined inside of a restaurant (Not outside on a patio) can you please post your experience. I’m curious to see if you had an enjoyable dining experience or if you were constantly worried.

Went to Mama’s on 39 yesterday in the middle of the afternoon to scratch the itch. The bar was packed. No social distancing at all. We were able to find a high-top that was far enough away that we felt comfortable. Servers all had masks on. A little weird, but it was nice to have a bite and a drink out.

A friend went to Macallan’s Pub House in Brea last week. It was pre-COVID normal. No social distancing. No masks. No gloves. She and her husband were taken aback. They had dinner elsewhere.

Yikes. Thanks for the 411. I can cross them off my list even though the owners are very nice people.
