Netflix Chef’s Table Legends

Is it me or do I not understand how Jamie Oliver gets to join this pantheon?

He might not be as recognized as a chef with upscale restaurants but actually his impact on people thinking more about how and what to eat (especially in Europe), his activism towards improvements on school lunches etc is quite significant

Better question, what’s Keller doing in that company?

Critical to establish fine-dining (and tasting menus) in the US - if his restaurants are still as relevant as 20 years ago is another question but doesn’t change that his is a “legend” from an impact on culinary work in the US

Odd lineup, indeed. But I don’t know or care much, I got fatigued of the Netflix Chef’s Table a long time ago.

Let’s see him cook fried rice on the show.

The other three have done a lot more than open restaurants and write cookbooks. “One of these things is not like the others …”

it’s a tv show about chefs, not the nobel peace prize

Hey if it makes for a compelling subject matter, I say it’s fair game.

“Jiro Dreams of Sushi”, the vehicle which catapulted Mr. Gelb to the rarified ranks of elite food documentarians, was compelling precisely because the NON-sushi facets of Ono-san made the entire piece so interesting.

I am, though, waiting for chili jam to make a cameo appearance…

I had less to say on Jamie Oliver when I found out one of my favorite Montreal spots, Salle Climatisee, can trace its lineage through Maison Publique (Derek Dammann) back to 15. Counts as legacy!
