Yeah. That doesn’t sound like a good outcome.
But I don’t think I can stay away from the khao soi, at the very least.

I’m going to the land of ma la. So maybe I don’t need to be in a hurry to destroy my intestines.

khao soi won’t hurt anyone… it’s totally benevolent and never very spicy. of course i was throwing thai chili into my spoon fulls

i do not recall experiencing any discomfort due to process of elimination. or digestion.

Just throwing another compliment on the pile, but I went here last weekend.
It lived up to all of my expectations and then some, even after reading this thread!
This place is absolutely delicious -and- worth the burn.

We ordered:

  • Mango Salad
  • Sausage
  • Khao Soi
  • Tom Yum Chicken

Wanted to order the larb, but decided to wait til next time.
And there will definitely be MANY next times.

Learning about places like Northern Thai Food is why I love FTC and keep coming back.
Much love to Northern Thai Food and y’all. Keep up the good work and pass the Tums!

Haha, we were a couple there on Saturday :upside_down_face:

Early dinner ? You’ve been spotted

how busy has this place gotten with all the recent press?

been pretty low key the 3 times i’ve gone…Heads up parking can be annoying in the area (the lot gets filled up quicky)

Another heads up. Drop in to the Armenian shop in the lot for your amazing fresh meat needs as well as nice fruit but especially this kata.

If that store sells kefir as well then that may ease at least SOME of the…aftermath issues

100% have kefir (both yogurt and drinking kefir and tan). ask them if they have the armenian version which is far superior… it’s called matsoni (mAHtsoni)

walked right in today for 2 top. it was steady (lots of nonthai folks), but no one really waiting at prime time lunch. It was really good–only tried the khao soi, sai ua, and jackfruit salad. Many have mention Pailin and it’s a good comparison. I think I may have liked Pailin’s khao soi slightly better–request the extra pickled mustard greens to cut on the sweetness/richness . The jackfruit salad was better than Pailin though. Sai ua maybe a tie, but it was tad too crumbly–needs more pork fat and pork skin. Will have to go back and try other dishes.

We may have similar tastes when it comes to these dishes.
I got the khao soi and the sai ua.
Both were excellent, but I think I still prefer khao soi at Pailin, just barely.
The sai ua would be perfect if they used more fat. Was a touch too dry and crumbly for my taste.
Neither dish was what I would consider spicy, though one sweet auntie hustled over with the chili oil for me when she saw me handling the sticky rice properly. That stuff shifted the spice spectrum mightily.
This place is legit! Can’t wait to work through the menu!
