For Green Olive, I will be going there directly in the future rather than using DoorDash as it only takes a few minutes for the food to be ready and for Buna, I will call ahead directly.
Speaking to a number of chefs today who say, though it is helpful to order take away and delivery, it will not cease the hemorrhaging. For those who can afford, the purchasing of gift cards for future use is what they say will help pay their vendors, etc. and ensure the restaurants exist coming out of these closures.
I think we have to start considering what the restaurant landscape looks like in Los Angeles post-covid.
Not saving but rebuilding and reimagining.
There’s no way everyone gets out of this okay. We’re going to lose some restaurants as there’s already too many to begin with.
What scares me most is Silicon Valley and all the delivery services taking advantage of this recession to lease a bunch of empty spaces for their ghost kitchens.
So what are you all doing re: safety of the packaging of takeout/delivery? I’ve heard people say we should be taking it out of the bag outside of the house then wiping down the packaging.
I don’t know what “best practice” is, but it’s probably a good idea to open package, wash hands, and then reaching inside to take stuff out, trying not to touch the outside (esp bag handles). And then wash hands again.
I’ll be honest, I probably only do the last hand washing, though.
For folks having trouble finding bread at the grocery store, I was able to pick up loaves from Panera. We need sandwich bread with everyone at home now.
Picked up honeycomb, strawberry ice cream and mortadella panini from Antico. They make a killer sandwich, really great house made foccacia bread and Parmesan cream.
I think all of this is a good idea. I have treated each delivery carefully. Have a vestibule I can unpack, etc in. My partner and I take turns being the infected/non-infected one when it comes to surfaces. Unpack, put in your own containers carefully, and throw everything out. Wash hands more often than you should. It can be a game or it can be annoying, or possibly both. Either way, wow what a world.
Pics of the futomaki I ordered during a meal that @PorkyBelly and I had before we all found out social distancing was the way to go. Was a good way to go out…
