DISH OF THE MONTH (DoTM) -- OCTOBER 2016 -- CHEAP EATS

@Ns1 How is the clam chowder there? I’ve always been curious.

At first i thought you got a severed thumb as a side dish.

you won’t find a better clam chowder at that price, that’s for sure. I prefer it over Boudin’s for example.

It feels like they swap the typical potato/clam ratio, so there is a mountain of clams and only some potatoes.

Only served on Friday.

Where?

City please?

Is “Indian casino” the name or do mean Indian casinos in general? I think Pechanga is Indian, then there’s Palm Springs.

In general. We live in Reno/Tahoe and it seems they all have very good breakfast.

Cool. We go to P.S. a lot and usually stay at a hotel attached to a place (Cheekys) known for their breakfast. But there’s a couple Indian casinos on the way out. We’ll definitely stop for breakfast!

Just shared the $3.33 this morning!

The small storefront and that steep hill transports me to SFO for just a moment. Not many locales like that here in LA.

That pastrami looks surprisngly good… There’s one nearby; maybe I’ll try it next week…

It’s a lot better than it needs to be. Kinda salty though but I mean it is a Reuben…

Salsa & Beer in North Hollywood

(sorry for photo, should have focused on the steak)
Carne Asada and Shrimp $11.99. The asada has an incredible char-grilled taste.

Carnitas Plate $11.99. Crispy outside, juicy and tender. A mountain of food.

Their large burritos are all under $9.00, though their asada burrito is $6.99.

With a soda you are under $15 for any of these. Plus chips and bean dip, all you can chug

It looks really good.

Dude. I tried going to Salsa and Beer Van Nuys last night at 9:30 and the line was still 20-30 deep.

So we ended up at Las Fuentes in Reseda. Enchilada plate was about $12, mulitas were $6.25/2 and the mountain of chips (not pictured) was a dollar. No tip line on the receipt either.

That mulita was insane - not for those at risk of cardiac disease.

Their beans are the weak link. They are kind of the texture of the bean dip. But I think you can substitute whole pintos for the refrieds.
