When the third or fourth cocktail arrives and Chicā€™s ā€œI Want Your Loveā€ comes on, that is a very Horses moment for me  Havenā€™t had their pasta al limone in a while, but itā€™s really good, too.

Cybertruck GIF is amusing.

I enjoyed it. But Iā€™m also a fan of the podcast

It reminds me of this admonition from Strunk & White:

  1. Do not affect a breezy manner.
The volume of writing is enormous, these days, and much of it has a sort of windiness
about it, almost as though the author were in a state of euphoria. ā€œSpontaneous me,ā€ sang
Whitman, and, in his innocence, let loose the hordes of uninspired scribblers who would
one day confuse spontaneity with genius.
The breezy style is often the work of an egocentric, the person who imagines that
everything that comes to mind is of general interest and that uninhibited prose creates high
    spirits and carries the day.

Whatā€™s the connection?

I mean this respectfully, obviously this article or my opinion on it isnā€™t a big deal, but I donā€™t get the hate. Itā€™s explicitly a bitchy, dishy, knowing Vanity Fair style piece, almost meant to be hate read.

Probably outing myself as a (post?) hipster here, but itā€™s the Lebowski line, ā€˜say what you want about the tenets of national socialism dude, at least itā€™s an ethos.ā€™ Low bar, but fun to read something from a very specific perspective and voice, however absurd or masturbatory or full of itself.

And he went at Eric Wareheim, whoā€™s absolutely insufferable.

yep, exactly. I actually know TJ a little, youā€™ve summed up his entire personality, esp his food writing.

Yeah, heā€™s not a food critic guys, heā€™s a cultural personality / comedian who likes food as a hobby. So itā€™s a fun piece he did. If youā€™re looking for capital C criticism sure you can rip it apart.

If heā€™s a comedian, then his humorā€™s just not for me. But few if any comedians are funny for everyone.

they are friends

caveat: iā€™m friends with eric and i enjoy hanging out with him. He has an enthusiasm for food/wine thatā€™s pretty refreshing in a cynical age.
