bestest char siu in la

For that price range is there a better char siu in the country? Let’s be realistic if it ain’t the Bay Area, NYC, and SGV it won’t even come close. Based on pics nothing in NYC really stands out to me. In SF I like Ming Kee and Hing Lung. I would still put Needle’s over them and to be fair it’s a higher quality pork at Needle. Haven’t tried the Iberico char siu with plum at Mott 32 in Vegas. I guess that would be it’s nearest contender. I imagine it’s more $$$

Do you guys like the siu yeh char siu or the regular more?

Dinner for sure. As great as meat on a stick is, it’s hard for it to compete against a full blown dinner where I could stuff my face.

I wonder if that sauce is what he used for his kanpachi dish.

I think there’s a video somewhere. Mei Lin plugged it on her Instagram feed.

That orange peel addition to the sauce is genius.

I might be coming back home in Feb for a visit to LA/OC/SF/Chinese New Year so I can’t wait to try the new menu items. Will have to do a bang bang that would be perfect.

I really wanna try Chef Mei Lin’s chicken sandwich. A lot of these new school Korean places I need to try.

I tend to get One Of Everything like @PorkyBelly so who knows if I will have room. Gotta support my favorite restaurant!

I’m excited for the new menu. Any guesses what will be on it?

Great choice but come on now. That’s not the answer we’re looking for.

While I understand your extraordinary enthusiasm and support for the other restaurant, it is completely inappropriate to lump them together in this discussion, whether here or on other social media platforms. Not to mention they are two completely different restaurants. And it makes me legitimately wonder why the need to compare or inject them at every turn, rather than let my review of one establishment stand. It comes across as putting down Needle when you do that, and make me further wonder if there are other intentions beyond that enthusiasm.

My intentions are pretty clear I’m trying to get @JeetKuneBao to do the original JKB bang bang and report for our viewing pleasure lol
